International Disarmament Camp Coulport Scotland 4th to 19th August
"I can't wait till next year and be part of that community again." "The camp had a huge impact on me." (comment by two of last year's first-timers)
Don't imagine that the camp is just for a few hardy souls! You can get involved to the level and in the way you wish. If you have thought about it before and dithered why not give it a try this time?
Last year was brilliant, lots of actions, 65 arrests, a great mix of ages, nationalities etc., but let's make this one better. The camp is a fantastic opportunity to have a constant presence at the bases for seventeen days; to share ideas, skills, experience; to sharpen our ability to work together; to bring new people into the campaign; to get a flavour of the ongoing Trident struggle in the local courts.
If you are able to come to the camp, even for part of the time, do let us know on coulport@tridentploughshares.org, or 08454588366, so that the best use can be made of your energy and expertise. We need people to help set-up (2nd and 3rd August) and take down (19th August), to help in the kitchen, swim into the bases, handle communication, legal support, media work, loo maintenance, climb fences, shopping, water collection, first aid, manage the equipment stores, welcome people, check each other for ticks, keep an eye on security, be problem solvers, blockade gates, bring music and singing, help prepare placards and banners, carry out reccies, drive minibuses and vans, lead workshops, organise and take part in vigils, bring and make costumes, facilitate meetings, hand out leaflets, take photos and video, support people in court, deal with rubbish, cut through fences, eat, bring bright new ideas, talk to bystanders, lie in the sun (occasionally), liaise with police, help keep the site and the woods in good order, organise registration, to name but a few.
Then there's the blockade of Faslane on 5th August to get the camp off to a flying start.
Briefings on the camp and the blockade are now ready.
Hope to see you in August!
